Do you offer in-person or online therapy?
I offer in person and virtual sessions. Virtual therapy is only permitted for people located in SC at the time of service. We can discuss what works best for your needs and comfort level. -
Where are you located?
My full-time office is located at 3018 Augusta St, Greenville SC 29605. I also have part-time space on Saturdays at 134 Oakland Ave, Spartanburg SC 29302.
**Disclosure About the Greenville Location: Fulmer Family Therapy’s Greenville office is located inside Augusta Heights Baptist Church. While this is a church setting, it’s important to know that AHBC is an LGBTQIA+ affirming congregation that welcomes individuals of all genders, races, sexual orientations, religions, and backgrounds. I share this because I want every client to feel safe, respected, and supported, and the church shares this commitment.
As a therapist who strives to be trauma-informed, I understand that the location may be meaningful or potentially triggering for some individuals. If you have any questions or concerns about meeting in this space, please feel free to reach out. I’m happy to provide more information or talk through alternative options such as virtual sessions, the Spartanburg office, or walk-and-talk therapy. Your comfort and safety matters, and I’m committed to helping you find the setting that feels right for you. -
How long does therapy last?
Each session typically lasts 45–50 minutes. The overall length of therapy depends on your goals and the nature of the challenges you’re facing. Some people find relief in a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. -
How much does therapy cost? Do you take insurance?
Initial sessions are $150, with following sessions costing $115 per session. I do accept insurance. If I don’t take your insurance, I can provide a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement. I also offer limited sliding scale spots for those with financial need, please reach out directly to inquire about current sliding scale rates and availability.
I am currently able to accept the following insurance plans: Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, AmBetter, United Health and some EAPS. -
Is everything we talk about confidential?
Yes—your privacy is very important to me and forms the foundation of the trust we build together. Everything you share in therapy is kept confidential, with a few legal exceptions (such as concerns about safety or abuse). I’ll go over these exceptions clearly at the beginning of our work together, so you know exactly what to expect. -
How do I know if therapy is working?
You may start to feel more clarity, relief, or emotional resilience over time. Therapy isn’t always a quick fix, but many people notice a shift in how they think, feel, or respond to life. We’ll regularly check in about your goals to make sure you’re getting what you need. -
What happens if therapy isn’t working?
If you're not feeling relief or it seems like we're not making progress toward your goals, I encourage you to bring that up. Not every therapist is the right fit for every person—and that’s completely okay. If it feels like we're not the right match, I’ll support you in finding someone who may be a better fit for your needs. -
How do I get started?
If you would like to schedule a 15 minute consultation, or are ready to jump in, I’m happy to answer your questions and see if we’re a good fit. You can contact me through the contact form HERE, or via email, call or text. Please see the Contact page to reach out. -
What happens in the first session?
During the first session, we’ll review the intake paperwork (typically sent ahead of time for you to complete) and conduct a thorough assessment. This includes discussing relevant history, current concerns, what matters most to you, and identifying initial therapeutic goals.
Because the first session is so comprehensive, it usually lasts between 60 and 90 minutes. Depending on your needs, additional diagnostic tools may be used to assess the severity of symptoms.
If you're seeking services for your child (age 15 or under), the first session will be a parent-only appointment. -
Will I be involved in my child’s therapy?
Yes—parent involvement is a key part of the therapeutic process and plays an important role in your child’s success. The level of involvement will depend on the goals of therapy.
Typically, the last 5–10 minutes of each session are reserved for check-ins to discuss your child’s progress and share strategies you can use at home. We can also schedule parent-only sessions as needed to provide additional support or offer psychoeducation. -
Is EMDR safe? Will I have to relive painful experiences?
EMDR is designed to keep you grounded and safe during the process. You are always in control, and we’ll go at a pace that feels manageable for you. You don’t have to give a detailed retelling of your experience for EMDR to work. Many clients find it deeply healing without feeling re-traumatized. -
Do you offer couples therapy?
At this time, I do not offer traditional couples therapy. However, I’m happy to work with couples on parenting and co-parenting topics, and to provide support through family therapy when appropriate.
